Soda Fired Horse Bowl

Soda Fired Horse Bowl

This is a soda-fired bowl made from a high-fire clay from Kentucky Mudworks that I was testing called Polaris. It is hand-thrown on my wheel, carved and colored with slips, oxides and a food safe glaze in the interior. It was fired in the soda kiln at Bobtown Arts in Berea using wood as a fuel. This clay blushes ever so slightly giving this bowl a nice rustic feel.

Measures approx. 2 1/2”h x 4 3/4”w

Holds approx. 10 oz.

It can be washed in a dishwasher but I recommend hand-washing all hand-made pottery. I’ve microwaved all my pottery but always exercise caution when microwaving any pottery.

Makes a great gift for the horse lover. Suitable for cereal, soup, ice cream and more. My marks are stamped on the bottom. The letter stamps indicate the type of clay used.

Everything tastes better in hand made pottery!
